Bum looker

Willpower

Forty-five minutes... that is how long my eleven month old son has been crying. I fed him, I changed him, and I sang to him. He was very close to being asleep, so I laid him down. He' s been crying ever since. I did go in after 25 minutes and he had a poopy diaper. So, I changed it and we began again.

I am trying to remember why I am doing this. Sure, an hour every night, trying to make get him to sleep is long, but it only lasts for a time, right? I can not stand letting my little sweetheart cry! I honestly think I would rather snuggle him for that long than listen to him cry. I have been told over and over, though, that this will only last for a few nights, then he will get the picture. Then, maybe I can get a little more done at night. I hope so, because he is very strong willed and I am a sucker for my little man.

Retrospective Pics of Elijah

I figure since it has taken me this long to start blogging, you might want to see some pictures of Elijah before now.

Question for Expert Moms out there

I have created some poor habits for my little guy. I pretty much feed him to sleep for naps and bedtime. I am trying to break this habit, but it is hard. I have to wrestle him down for over an hour every night. Also, after a few hours, he wakes up and I usually feed him back to sleep (in bed with me). I know, I am weak, but I don't mind it. I just know that I need to get him in to his own bed eventually. It would be much easier if he slept through the night, but he isn't even close. I have read Babywise, but it is pretty much opposite of everything I have done up until this point. I really don't like to just let him cry it out. Any suggestions?

Blogging Troubles

So, I have finally decided that, even though I am still blogger dumb, I am going to try to get back into this. The email address on my account is wrong. It says marilynwas@yahoo.com, which is not my email, but hopefully it will work out, anyway, because I can't seem to get them to change it.

Nine months old

Elijah is nine months old today (the 4th). I can hardly believe it. It seems like just yesterday that we brought him home from the hospital. He has grown so much in that time and he has become such a fun little boy.

He is crawling all over the place now and he loves to "give fives." He can turn the light switch off and on and he loves to wave at anybody and everybody. He enjoys playing peek-a-boo and screaming while he's eating. He is starting to walk, assisted by the couch or bed, and is confident that he can do anything. He seems very determined and he's always thinking (that, he gets from his daddy!) He loves people and he will go to anyone. He enjoys a crowd and loves to show off.

He's everything I ever hoped for and so much more! We are so incredibly blessed.

Howdy

So, I am finally starting a blog. As my BFF Kim can attest, I have written in a journal since I was in fourth grade. This is just a much cooler version of a journal (that is constantly viewed by the world). I protested blogging for the longest time because I honestly swore that no one cared to hear about my uneventful life in West Texas. However, this will be a great way for all my family and friends to catch up on Elijah news.

I will just catch you up a bit on where I am in life at this point in time. My husband, Jeremy and I have been living in Abilene, Texas for the last four years. He is a pilot in the Air Force and I am a recruiter and Mary Kay consultant. He is a wonderful husband and I am so thankful I can call him mine. We were blessed with Elijah Lincoln on September 4 of last year. He has been the best thing that has ever happened to me. I never knew how much I could love someone. We are having so much fun learning how to be parents and we're hoping for more as soon as God decides it's time.

We are involved in our church and with the squadron on base. I love gardening, singing, bargain hunting, reading, walking, cooking, and playing with my little man. I am still the biggest OSU fan you will ever meet and am loyal to all things Oklahoman (except OU), conservative, and country.

I look forward to catching up with old friends and hope to keep you updated on all the latest Elijah happenings. God bless you!
